Some trips only make sense in a group — the ones where the conversation carries on from morning to night, and nobody's watching the clock. This itinerary breaks from the usual pattern: instead of estates and accommodation, it focuses on the activities that actually make you want to gather all your friends — building something together, a sunset on the water, a real day out in nature. Day 1 — Bragança: hands-on
Start in Bragança, with an afternoon of craft-making at CUT OUT | Design Sustentável, whose mission is to (re)discover Trás-os-Montes through the design and construction of objects. If your dates line up, there's an ongoing community project running across several September Saturdays — the collective build of a "Matilha" (pack) dedicated to the Iberian wolf, with workshops open to the public. It's the kind of activity that stays with the group long after the trip ends.
Day 2 — Macedo de Cavaleiros: sunset on the Azibo Reservoir
Move on to Macedo de Cavaleiros, where SunAzibo operates from the Azibo Reservoir pier. Among the experiences on offer is a Sunset Cruise — an afternoon on the water, together, easing into the evening. Those who want to extend the day can combine other experiences from the same operator, like the GeoCruise or a visit to an artisanal cheese dairy — SunAzibo builds packages tailored to the group.
Day 3 — Mogadouro: real nature in the Douro Internacional
A final day dedicated to the territory's most dramatic landscape: the cliffs of the Douro Internacional. Explora Douro – Nature Tours runs kayak routes, such as "From the Cliffs to Lago do Medal", and walking tours along the cliffs and viewpoints, with a good chance of spotting vultures — one of the few places in Portugal where this happens regularly. A very different close to an itinerary than an estate or a mill.
What about the olive oil?
If the group wants to close the trip with a tasting, Casa dos Pradas, in Argozelo, Vimioso municipality — a short drive from Bragança or Macedo de Cavaleiros — is a good option for a final stop. Founded in 1958, now in its fourth generation of the Prada family, with certified organic production. Worth contacting directly to arrange a visit.
