Not every itinerary calls for hiking boots and early alarms. This one is built for couples who prefer a slower pace: comfortable hotels, meals with time to talk, and the territory's authenticity without the physical effort.
Day 1 — Arrival in Mirandela, lunch in Romeu, overnight in Vila Flor

Arrival in Mirandela and a welcome lunch in Romeu, at Maria Rita, the restaurant inside Quinta do Romeu — owned by the Menéres family since 1874, now in its fifth generation, with 120 hectares of its own olive groves producing the DOP olive oil the restaurant is named after. After lunch, on to Vila Flor and check-in at Quinta Acushla (Quinta do Prado), a rural stay with two houses — the Golden House and the Original House — six rooms in total. A relaxed dinner right at the farm.
Day 2 — Vila Flor: the Acushla experience, unhurried
A full day dedicated to the farm. In the morning, the Acushla Tour takes you through the grove and a tasting of the house's own oils. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the farm at your own pace — nothing else on the schedule.
Day 3 — Torre de Moncorvo and check-in at Grapple
Leave Vila Flor in the morning, heading to Torre de Moncorvo for an unhurried stroll through the historic centre. Lunch at Restaurante O Lagar, housed in a former olive mill running since 1983 — the stone walls still tell the story of the space. Before moving on, a stop at Arte, Sabor e Douro, where Dina Morais hand-makes the Protected Geographical Indication Amêndoa Coberta de Moncorvo — and sells local olive oil too, right on the same shelves.

In the late afternoon, check in at Grapple Hotel & Spa, a 4-star hotel in Carrazeda de Ansiães. This is where the day truly slows down: an olive oil massage, followed by dinner at Grapple Restaurante, which pairs local tradition with more refined dishes made from its own kitchen garden.
Day 4 — Transfer to Alijó
A free morning in Carrazeda de Ansiães, at the hotel's own pace, before transferring to Alijó, at the heart of the UNESCO-listed Alto Douro Vinhateiro. Check in at Palacete Barão Forrester – Forrester Essence Douro Hotel, a 4-star boutique hotel in the centre of town, with all the charm of a historic mansion. A free afternoon to take in the views over the Douro's terraced slopes.
Day 5 — Alijó, unhurried, and departure
A last day with nothing scheduled: a morning to enjoy the palacete and the village of Alijó at your own pace before heading home. The fitting close for an itinerary built to never be in a hurry.
