D'Olival ao Azeite D'Ouro

A new space in Alijó has opened to learn more about the olive oils from this region.

D'Olival ao Azeite D'Ouro was developed by the Municipality of Alijó and the new Association of Olive Oil Producers in the region. The new interpretive center provides a space for visits and interaction with the perspective of olive oil production in the region.

With 16 contributing members, the space will now be promoted and developed by the association in favor of olive growing.

In addition to some history of the olive tree and olive oil, the information travels further and covers, for example, the stages of the transformation of olives into liquid gold, as it is also known throughout the world.

Several interactive and dynamic points provide experiences for visitors, from the youngest to the most experienced.

"Built in an old watermill in the village of Castedo do Douro, the D’Olival ao Azeite D’Ouro Interpretative Centre is 6 km from Alijó and 50 km from Vila Real.

As an exhibition and information space dedicated to the culture and production of olive oil in the municipality of Alijó and in the Alto Douro Wine Region, a World Heritage Site, the Interpretation Centre is also a place where memory, knowledge and the senses combine with the same harmony that makes Douro olive oil a unique product."
