It's that time of year!
The people of Trás-os-Montes are celebrating and traditions are taking to the streets, as the smoked meats are ready and Carnival is just around the corner.
The Butelo das Casulas Festival, which promotes the most characteristic sausage from the Bragança region, is taking place in the historic part of the city, in Praça de Camões.
To promote this delicacy and many others, including olive oil.
This year, chefs will be present for demonstrations and gastronomic tastings.

The Carnival of the Caretos
"The Carnival of Caretos ends on Ash Wednesday, March 5th, with the departure of the Devil, Death and Censorship. “A centuries-old tradition, of true fun, in which mythical figures take to the streets of the oldest neighborhoods of Bragança, with the aim of chasing single girls, in order to punish them with belts, as a way of drawing attention to the need to do penance on this, the first day of Lent. The 'girls', in turn, hide at home, where the Devil, unable to enter through the door, tries to find an alternative way to enter through the windows and balconies”, informed the municipality."
