The region will be present at the largest tourism fair in the Iberian Peninsula (FITUR) with a program dedicated to excellent products, gastronomy, and olive oil tourism.
Between January 21st and 25th, Madrid will host FITUR 2026 — the most important International Tourism Fair in the Iberian Peninsula. And Trás-os-Montes will be there, with everything that defines us: authenticity, tradition, and products that tell millennia-old stories.
A stand that is a window to the territory
In Pavilion 4, Stand 4G06, the Lands of Trás-os-Montes will present themselves to the Spanish and international market with a five-day program that combines tourist experiences, gastronomy, wines, DOP olive oils, cultural traditions, and emblematic events of the region.
The CIM-TTM (Intermunicipal Community of Terras de Trás-os-Montes) stand will host tastings, sessions with tour operators, presentations of cross-border projects, and moments of cultural entertainment — all designed to show that Trás-os-Montes is not just a tourist destination, but a territory with a strong and genuine identity.
Olive oil at the heart of the Trás-os-Montes experience
Among the program highlights is "The Gold of Vila Flor", with a presentation and tasting of PDO olive oils from the region. Vila Flor, recognized for the exceptional quality of its extra virgin olive oils, brings to FITUR the richness of its endemic varieties, centuries-old olive groves, and the mastery of local producers.
But it's not just Vila Flor. Throughout the five days, Trás-os-Montes olive oil will be present in various tastings and sessions, showing that the liquid gold of Trás-os-Montes is much more than a product: it is heritage, it is culture, it is experiential tourism.

Olive Oil Tourism: the new frontier of tourism in Trás-os-Montes
The presence of olive oil at FITUR is no accident. Olive oil tourism is emerging as one of the most sought-after tourist experiences in Trás-os-Montes, attracting visitors who want to explore centuries-old olive groves, traditional olive presses, extra virgin olive oil tastings, and routes through the PDO territories.
With over 2000 years of olive-growing history, olive trees classified as Natural Monuments, endemic varieties (Cobrançosa, Madural, Verdeal Transmontana), and breathtaking landscapes, Trás-os-Montes has everything to establish itself in the Iberian market as a benchmark destination for olive oil tourism.
Spanish Market: A Strategic Opportunity
Spain is one of the main source markets for tourism in Northern Portugal. FITUR 2026 represents a unique opportunity to reinforce Trás-os-Montes on the radar of Spanish tour operators, specialized journalists, and consumers seeking authentic destinations, away from mass tourism.
During the five days of the fair, the region will promote:
Rural and nature tourism experiences
Certified gastronomy (PDO, PGI, organic products)
Cultural tourism and heritage (castles, archaeological sites, traditional festivals)
Wine tourism and olive tourism (certified routes)
Wellness tourism (thermal baths, landscapes, tranquility)
Daily raffles: Blog Trip and FAM Trip
CIM-TTM will raffle off places for Blog Trip and FAM Trip daily (January 21, 22, and 23), allowing influencers and industry professionals to personally experience the lands of Trás-os-Montes.
These programs will allow content creators and tour operators to experience the region in an immersive way: from the olive groves of Vila Flor to the smokehouses of Vinhais, from the thermal baths of Vimioso to the Pauliteiros of Miranda.
Trás-os-Montes that unites, does not separate
As the official communication from CIM-TTM rightly states: "The Lands of Trás-os-Montes are not just a magical place, they are a territory of coexistence and shared identity, where the border unites more than it separates."
FITUR 2026 is the perfect showcase to show the world that here, between schist mountains and ancient olive trees, there is a territory that breathes authenticity. Where each product has a history. Where every tradition is lived, not staged. Where the olive oil, the wine, the smoked meats, and the hospitality are genuine.
Trás-os-Montes goes to Madrid. And it will show the world why it deserves to be visited, tasted, and experienced.
