Itinerary from Vale de Lobo to Mirandela

Organizer:

Various types

Welcome to a new itinerary for Olive Tourism fans.

We will travel through the lands of Mirandela, and take part in some experiences during this day's itinerary.

We leave it up to you where you start and the reservations you make with the places in our suggestions.

Yes, we must not forget!! To enjoy the experiences we suggest, you must BOOK in advance. So that everything is ready for you.

Two of the participants of Azeite ao Norte have good ways to start and end the experience:

At Casa de Campo dos Távoras you can enjoy several experiences, but in this itinerary we suggest you try "From the Iron Pot to the Table | From the Wood Oven to the Table" where you will try traditional recipes made in the old-fashioned way with a flavor that you won't have the opportunity to have very often.

Here you can also enjoy accommodation.

Quinta de Vale de Lobo is a producer of PDO olive oil from the Trás-os-Montes region.

It produces products using native species of local olive trees. You can visit the olive groves and see an old community oil mill that exists in the village, although it is no longer in operation.

All this with an olive oil tasting and learning more about this liquid. All in a peace that you can only find in Trás-os-Montes.

And you can even take a bottle of olive oil home and continue enjoying it.

In the "middle" of these experiences is a walking route that goes from Vale de Lobo to Mirandela, the opposite points of the experiences. And it is an opportunity to enjoy olive groves and nature for a moment, without the hustle and bustle of the cities.

The proposal is to create a route between Vale de Lobo and Mirandela, on an identified pedestrian route - the PR2 MDL - Vale de Lobo Trail.

A description of the walking route on the website of the Tua Valley Regional Natural Park identifies its characteristics. It's an easy circuit and good to do with family or friends.

And it is an approved and identified walking route.

But be sure to make some preparations.

Take the route in the afternoon or morning, but if you don't want to do the route on foot again, you will have to organize the return. Some operators can help solve this problem with a "transfer" (car rental).

One of the best times to do this will be in the spring or early fall.

If you want to see the route, it is marked on our map from Azeite to the North.

Enjoy and have fun, you will see that it will be a day well spent.

How to get around?

There aren't many ways to get to Mirandela.

Either with your own car, or on one of the bus lines that take you to the city center.

The vans are comfortable and the journey is quick.

There are several departure points in Porto, all with the Metro very close by.

It passes through Marão and the longest tunnel on the continent.

Leaving from Porto it takes around 1h40 to get there, so it's a good opportunity for any weekend.
