Trilho do Tua-Vieiro-Freixiel

A 22.2 km circular trail of difficult grade, estimated at 7h30, starting and finishing at the information panel of the former Abreiro Station on the Tua Railway Line. The trail crosses steep valleys, bridges, tunnels and tight bends along precipices on the left bank of the River Tua. It heads towards the village of Vieiro, where you can visit the Community and Memory Centre dedicated to painter Graça Morais, the Church of Santa Maria Madalena, the Chapel of São Tomé and the Wayside Cross. Continuing to Freixiel, highlights include the historic Gallows (Listed Building of Public Interest), the Church of Santa Maria Madalena, the Roman Fountain and the Pillory (also Listed). The route climbs to the summit of Serra Tinta, with a 360° viewpoint over Vieiro, Freixiel, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Assunção and the municipalities of Mirandela and Carrazeda de Ansiães.
