Trilho do Miradouro da Cova Escura

A 16.2 km circular trail of moderately difficult grade, starting and finishing at the information panel of the Museu da Memória Rural in Vilarinho da Castanheira. Initially it shares a section with the PR6 CRZ — Trilho da Aldeia dos Moinhos —, heading towards Fonte da Bicuda and a bridge locally known as the Roman Bridge. The trail continues towards Pinhal do Douro, following the mid-slope of the Ribeiro das Tábuas valley and sharing a section with the PR8 CRZ — Trilho da Fraga da Ola. Along the way, scattered vernacular architecture can be observed: bee-wall enclosures, fig-drying ovens, an olive press and a cluster of watermills. Returning to Vilarinho da Castanheira, the trail reaches the Cova Escura viewpoint, passes the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Assunção and ends at the Fonte do Cano.
