The route passes through caverns and grottoes of the Mirandese plateau, blending natural beauty with the characteristic landscape of this Miranda do Douro region. The Mirandese plateau is a territory of Mirandese culture and language (Portugal's only co-official language alongside Portuguese), with a landscape dominated by cereal fields, holm oaks and olive groves.
