Grande Rota do Vale do Côa
GR FOC
Vila Nova de Foz Côa
A 222 km long-distance trail following the River Côa from its source to its confluence with the Douro. It can be walked, ridden on horseback or cycled in either direction. The route crosses the Côa Valley Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the world's largest collection of open-air Palaeolithic rock art — over 20,000 engravings dating back 20,000 to 25,000 years. The trail passes through schist and granite landscapes between Sabugal and Foz Côa. Source: CM Vila Nova de Foz Côa / Turismo Centro Portugal.
