Description and Content
The Tua Ecotrail in the Mirandela section runs for 13.656 km along the old Tua Line, inaugurated in 1887. The route was renovated and opened to the public in August 2024, with an investment of 900,000 euros financed by Turismo de Portugal.
Starting from the old Carvalhais Station, the route heads towards Macedo de Cavaleiros, crossing the landscapes of the Transmontana Terra Quente region with olive groves, almond trees and vineyards. It passes through the villages of Jerusalém do Romeu and Romeu, where the old Romeu Bridge is one of the points of greatest heritage interest.
The surface is mixed (dirt and asphalt), with gentle inclines typical of the railway line (less than 2.5%), making it accessible to families and users with reduced mobility. The Mirandela Station, opened in 1887 and recently renovated, functions as a House of Arts with a visitor center and educational space.

All year round. Ideal for spring and autumn.
