Description and Content

The longest section of the Tua Ecotrail, 37 km long in the municipality of Bragança, was the first to be inaugurated — the initial 4.9 km section opened in April 2022. It connects the old Sendas Station to the center of Bragança, transitioning from the Terra Quente (hot land) to the Terra Fria (cold land) of Trás-os-Montes.

The route crosses transitional landscapes, passing through oak and chestnut forests, traditional meadows, and villages typical of Trás-os-Montes. The Sendas and Rossas stations are planned for rehabilitation as hostels/accommodations to support the ecotrail.

The connection to Bragança's urban cycle network (22 km) allows for continued operation of the city, with access to the Xispas electric bicycle sharing system (20 e-bikes).

Recommended season:

Spring to autumn. Winter may bring snow at higher elevations.
