Description and Content
The newest and most challenging section of the Sabor Ecotrail, linking Pocinho (at the confluence of the Sabor and Douro rivers, at 130m altitude) to Torre de Moncorvo (391m). The constant 10km climb offers spectacular views of the Douro River and the old Pocinho road-rail bridge.
The landscape is dominated by terraced vineyards of the Alto Douro Wine Region (UNESCO World Heritage Site) at the lower elevations, transitioning to olive groves and cork oak forests at higher elevations. The dirt track requires mountain biking.
Recommended season:
Autumn to spring. Extremely hot summers in the lower elevations.
Does it pass through an olive grove?
Olive tourism notes:
A landscape transition between Douro vineyards and Trás-os-Montes olive groves — a route that illustrates the complementarity between the two.
