Caminhada nos Lagos do Sabor “Serpente do Medal”

With guided walks you can discover the natural landscape of Trás-os-Montes, Romanesque bridges, geosites, authentic villages, traditions, peek between the mountains, and finish with the flavors of Trás-os-Montes. Our guides are knowledgeable about the trails of the Protected Landscape of the Azibo Reservoir, Caretos de Podence, Douro, Sabor Lakes, Tua Park, Douro Internacional, and the Montesinho Natural Park.

This walking route overlooking the villages of Meirinhos and Estevais takes us to one of the most incredible and unknown viewpoints in the country. The Serpente Medal viewpoint is a magical place where the Sabor River carves a serpent in its course, reflecting the beauty of its lake.

The extensive seventy kilometers of the Sabor Lakes are distributed among three gigantic lakes, namely the Cilhades Lake, the Santuários Lake, and the Medal Lake.

The Sabor Dam is currently the third largest water reservoir in Portugal. The hike is done in the morning, and in the summer it can also be done in the late afternoon to watch the fantastic sunset.
