Douro International Hiking Trail “Fraga Amarela”

With guided hikes you can discover the natural landscape of Trás-os-Montes, Romanesque bridges, geosites, authentic villages, traditions, peek between the mountains, and finish with the flavors of Trás-os-Montes. Our guides are knowledgeable about the trails of the Protected Landscape of the Azibo Reservoir, Caretos de Podence, Douro, Sabor Lakes, Tua Park, Douro Internacional, and the Montesinho Natural Park.

One trail starts and ends in the village of Vila Chã de Braciosa. The hike takes place in the heart of the Mirandês Plateau, towards the Fraga Amarela viewpoint, located next to the Castro da Cigaduenha.

This castro is a settlement from the 1st millennium BC and occupies an extensive plateau, whose southern edges plunge down to the Douro River, thus providing a magnificent view of the river canyon.

Part of the route stands out for its beautiful natural setting and a stunning arrival at the Fraga Amarela viewpoint overlooking the Douro River, in the Douro International Natural Park.
