Walking with Miranda Donkeys

Set off on a journey with your friends or family and enjoy the scenery around the village of São Joanico, in the municipality of Vimioso, in the company of a Miranda Donkey.

After visiting the Miranda Donkey Recreational and Educational Activities Center (CALP) and getting acquainted with the donkeys that live there, enjoy a walk to discover and experience the richness and biodiversity of the Mirandês Plateau, while learning more about this docile animal.

The donkey walk (3 hours) includes a visit to the center, supervision by specialized instructors, and personal accident insurance.

It lasts 3 hours, is easy to moderate in difficulty, and is accessible to everyone, including children over 8 years old who are used to walking.

The walks take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In July, August, and September, the walks begin at 8:00 a.m.

This schedule is designed to ensure the comfort and safety of both people and animals, due to the high temperatures experienced in this area during the summer.

In other months, donkey treks begin at 9:00 a.m.

If participants are more than 15 minutes late starting the trek, AEPGA reserves the right to change or shorten the route. Donkey treks will not take place in adverse weather conditions (rain, fog, ice, and snow).

Donkeys are, above all, our traveling companions, so only children (from 4 to 8 years old) may ride on their backs, while young people and adults may guide them or walk freely at a slow, relaxed pace.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes (preferably closed-toe) appropriate for the weather conditions. Don't forget to bring a hat and sunscreen if the day is sunny, and water and snacks, especially if you are traveling with children.

Please also note that a donkey can be shared by 3 to 4 people.

The date and time you intend to take the hike, the number of participants, the number of donkeys you would like to accompany you, and the name and contact information of the organization or the person responsible for scheduling the activity.
