OLIVE HARVESTING “from the olive grove to the Geopark”

Authentic seasonal agricultural experience taking place in November and December, with the main objective of introducing participants to the entire process of harvesting, processing, and consuming olives and olive oil, known as the "gold of Trás-os-Montes."

Alongside this experience, we will share with participants the rich geological heritage, traditions, and culture of the UNESCO Global Geopark, Terras de Cavaleiros, of which this territory is an integral part.

Trip Plan

This experience includes visits to some internationally relevant geosites of the UNESCO Global Geopark Terras de Cavaleiros in the parish of Lagoa, a visit to the mural of Tia Maria Luísa, the charming traditional baker of Lagoa, beloved in this region for her wisdom, hospitality, and tradition, and the possibility of visiting her oven.

We will visit an olive oil mill in production and large olive groves where the traditional olive harvest will take place. We will conclude with an olive oil tasting.

A workshop on "Olives and olive oil in healthy cooking" can be added to the program.

Opportunity to purchase agri-food products directly from the farmer.
