OLIVE HARVESTING "from the olive grove to Balsamão"

Authentic seasonal experience taking place during November and December, with the main objective of introducing participants to the entire process of harvesting, processing, and consuming olives and olive oil, known as the gold of Trás-os-Montes.

Alongside this experience, we will share with participants the rich natural, cultural, and religious heritage of the Balsamão Convent, a place of great natural beauty and spirituality.

Trip Plan

This experience includes a visit to an olive oil mill in production and large olive groves in the village of Lombo, where the traditional olive harvest will take place, followed by an olive oil tasting.

A visit to the Balsamão Convent will be included, and a visit to Poço dos Paus, one of the most important geosites of the UNESCO Global Geopark, Terras de Cavaleiros, can be added.

On the weekend of the Chacim Olive Festival, the program will be adapted to include a visit to the event, which usually takes place on the third weekend of November.

A workshop entitled “Olives and Olive Oil in Healthy Cooking” can be added to the program.

Possibility of purchasing agri-food products directly from the farmer.
