Burricadas Alfândega da Fé - (February 13, 15 and 17)

The 2026 Burricadas return to Alfândega da Fé on February 13th, 15th, and 17th, establishing itself as one of the most emblematic carnival events in Trás-os-Montes and an authentic expression of the popular culture and intangible heritage of the municipality.

Integrated into the traditions of the Trás-os-Montes Carnival, this celebration has the donkey as its central figure, a symbol of the region's rural past and an element of satire, humor, and social criticism, which characterizes the irreverent spirit of the local Carnival. The Burricadas are distinguished by their strong community participation, involving associations, schools, communities, and informal groups in parades, enactments, and moments of entertainment.
